BIPOC Birth Work Circle & Birth Fund Update & Event
Over the past few months, the BIPOC Birth Work Circle & Birth Fund supported a new BIPOC doula in booking two birth doula clients. She attended her first birth on 4/15. They also assisted a postpartum doula in shadowing two postpartum shifts while being compensated for her time.
The group was able to provide a private childbirth class for a mother with hypertension and gestational diabetes. They discussed nutrition, rest, self-care, safe activities for fitness, and self-advocacy with her birth team. She left the class feeling confident in managing her conditions and reducing her risks.
The BIPOC Birth Work Circle & Birth Fund has also:
Connected with a teen parenting program
Provided virtual postpartum support for multiple parents including a NICU family
Registered people for their community birth class
Purchased a replacement pump for an exclusively breastfeeding teen parent who no longer had access to her insurance provided pump
Is in the process of scheduling in-person postpartum support for a teen parent next week
Purchased a URL for a new doula
They have a community childbirth event scheduled for 5/22 from 11am-3pm. Lunch will be included and they will discuss prenatal wellness, birth, and postpartum healing. Interested participants can register here: https://doulapro.as.me/event.
